Andrea

I am a Brazilian journalist and a first year student in the Democracy and Governance program at Georgetown University, not necessarily in that order.

Before coming to Georgetown, I was a correspondent for Brazilian newspapers in New York and DC and a reporter in Sao Paulo. Personal interests (or obsessions) drove me cover mostly international politics, be it the Obama campaign or elections in Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. I studied communications/journalism and political science in Brazil, the US and the UK.

Besides writing for this blog, I still contribute occasionally to Brazilian publications, mainly Folha de S.Paulo.

The MA in Democracy and Governance at Georgetown University is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 academic year. Find out more.
Founded in 2004, Democracy and Society is a biannual print journal published by the Center for Democracy and Civil Society at Georgetown University. The D&S Blog provides web-only content, including special reports and investigative series, on issues relating to democracy and development.
